Debut Win For Kia Ora Sale Graduate Illude

Illude (3g Exceed And Excel-One Under (NZ), by Volksraad (GB)) scored a comfortable win over 1300m at his first racecourse appearance at Cranbourne on 21 December.

Bred at Kia Ora Stud by Mr Alan Osburg who was also co-owner of Kia Ora Stud-bred Exceed And Excel, Illude was a $150,000 purchase by Nick Williams at the 2007 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale and is raced by Nick and his parents.

He is the second winner from as many foals from One Under (NZ), the top filly on the Australasian 2YO Classification of 1998-99 when she won both New Zealand G1 two-year-old events against colts.

Last Easter a yearling full sister to Illude, now named Big Birdie, was sold for $900,000 to Bob Ingham.   Another full sister will feature in Kia Ora Stud’s Easter draft in 2009.   One Under (NZ) has a filly by Starcraft (NZ) at her side.
