Dr. Possible Looks Very Likely
Monday, 27th April 2009

Kia Ora Stud-bred Dr. Possible picked an auspicious day to break his maiden in Hong Kong – Champions Mile/Queen Elizabeth II Cup Day on Sunday April 26 – but he opened the programme with a decisive win in the HK$625,000 Jules Audemars Handicap over 1200m for trainer John Size.

The four-year-old gelding, by Galileo (Ire)-Tirumani, by Last Tycoon (Ire), was having just his second career start following a debut fourth over 1000m back in January.

Dr Possible is the fourth winner from Tirumani, the best to date being Group 2 winner of $515,925, Astrodame ( by Flying Spur).

Tirumani, who died in 2007, is a daughter of Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes winner Midnight Fever.   Her last foal was a Choisir colt which sold at the recent Sydney Easter Yearling Sale to Troy Corsten’s Newmarc Bloodstock while her penultimate foal is the two-year-old filly Divya ( by Danzero), retained by Kia Ora and undergoing her first preparation with Bart Cummings at Randwick at present.

Kia Ora Stud also retained Tirumani’s first foal, the Danehill filly Darsini whose Zabeel (NZ) yearling colt also sold at Easter to Bart Cummings for $175,000.   She has a 2008 colt foal by More Than Ready (USA) and is in foal to General Nediym.
