Red Buttons Gets the Blue Ribbon

Red Buttons (4g Red Ransom ( USA)-Funster, by Rory’s Jester) scored a valuable win in the $75,000 John Forbes Blue Ribbon Cup at Bendigo on Sunday 22 February.

He was in the Kia Ora Stud consignment to the 2006 Sydney Easter Yearling Sale but failed to reach his reserve of $125,000 and was retained to race by his breeder Brian Agnew.   Red Buttons has now earned $125,150 from his four wins and nine placings and is trained at Cranbourne by Mick Kent.

The gelding has defied his speed-oriented pedigree.   His shortest win has been over 1900m; this victory came at 2400m.
