For Sale – A Double Friday, 20th February 2009
A pair of three-year-old colts bred at Kia Ora Stud, both trained by David Hayes, opened their winning accounts stylishly in consecutive races at the
Sale meeting in
Victoria on Friday 20 February.
Multahb (NZ)
(3c Zabeel (NZ)-Centamira (NZ), by Centaine)
looked most impressive winning his maiden over 1700m by 2.8 lengths after covering extra ground.
In typical Zabeel style, he showed fine reserves of stamina as he forged ahead of his rivals late in the race.
This was only his second race start, coming on top of a debut second over 1400m, and he could be a very smart stayer in the making.
Multahb (NZ) was purchased for $360,000 by Shadwell
Australia from Kia Ora’s Sydney Easter Sale draft of 2007.
Ranjan (3c Redoute’s Choice-Chris Penrod (USA), by Theatrical) races in Kia Ora’s Stud’s colours and broke his maiden by 1.3 lengths when resuming over 1200m.
It was his third career start and he is held in good regard by the stable.
Kia Ora Stud is offering his full brother as
Lot 413 at the Sydney Easter Yearling Sale on 7 April.
Their dam, Chris Penrod (USA), is a sister to American G1 winner Startac.
